Intelligent Energy Europe’s project RE‐CODRIVE ‐“Rewarding and Recognition Schemes for Energy Conserving Driving, Vehicle procurement and maintenance” undertakes some of the EU objectives and targets, starting with the promotion of sustainable fleet management, and aims at merging existing eco‐driving initiatives with progressive fleet management and logistics optimization practice to ensure continuity of the effects of fuel saving measures.
The project RECODRIVE focuses on all processes comprising human component with special focus on recognition and reward schemes for drivers, maintenance and procurement staff. The key to keeping fuel consumption as low as possible, within the existing vehicle fleet, is to provide the drivers and other fleet management staff with training, insight and motivation. The staff must be motivated for constantly keeping low fuel consumption in mind. In contrast to many other eco‐driving projects, RECODRIVE offers a strategy for training and keeping up the motivation for fuel consumption over a longer period of time.
