KASSETTS is a project aiming at optimisation of transport and logistics activities, thereby increasing the competitiveness of SMEs and lowering the environmental impacts of freight transport through the formation of a European ICT network of logistics brokers.
The project was launched in October 2008 and is now in full swing. Namely, the first phase of the project that was dedicated to the development of ICT tools for logistic bro-kering is close to an end, and partners in Italy, Germany,
Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland will soon start with the testing of the soft-ware. The network platform enabling regional brokers to organise the transport de-mand and assist manufacturing companies by planning effi-cient transportation solutions should be ready by the end of February 2010.
Numerous manufacturing SMEs in the partner regions have expressed their interest to participate as pilot compa-nies and test the provided services.
The core benefit provided by the initiative is the optimisa-tion of regional, national and trans-national transports by developing a logistic broker solution, which leads to cost savings for user SMEs and less kilometres run by vehicles (with decreasing transport emissions).
This project is implemented through the CENTRAL EUROPE Programme, co-financed by the ERDF.
