Dexion Hi-Lo celebrates 5 years since the first Romanian employees joined the Dexion family, starting a new age in Romania’s storage systems market.

This year, in October, Dexion, one of Eastern Europe’s top suppliers for warehouse storage solutions and archive systems celebrates 5 years since the first Romanian employees joined the Dexion family.
Since then, Dexion has become more than a company; it has become a second home and a family for its employees. Here’s what Lucian Cazacu says, the company’s first employee, who still runs today the human resources department “I was Dexion’s first employee, back when it was called Hi-Lo. I remember the hard work and successes this company has gone through and I am proud to see how well these experiences shaped it into the modern, flourishing plant it is now.”

Making its way into an emerging market, Dexion grew with the Romanian logistics market. While at first people had to be taught what a pallet racking system is, and most of the companies used second hand systems from the West, now the market is strong, and so is the competition, while the customers know exactly what they want, they are up-to-date with the newest developments in the field. Despite these changes, Dexion has managed to remain a market leader in the field due to its combination of high quality systems and low prices.
With its British management, Romanian employees, German quality management and Norse expertise, Dexion is truly an European company. It serves as Constructor Group’s main hub for production, sales and logistics in Central and Eastern Europe.

Brian Howson, the company’s general manager, has this to say about his views on the company’s development for the 10th year anniversary: “In another 5 years I see Dexion as keeping a strong position on the South-East European storage System market. Beyond Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, I see offices in Moldova, Ukraine etc. All these new markets will prove highly profitable for Dexion. Regarding the systems sold, we are forecasting a greater specialization and a preference for complex automated solutions, designed for space saving.

Still we are far away from the 50 years of existence that our colleagues from Dexion Germany recently celebrated, but we are sure, we will one day reach the 50 year mark in Romania as well, becoming an established, well known brand, not only to the logistics operators, but also to the general public.“
In 2004 Dexion Hi-Lo was founded in Rasnov, as part of the relocation of the factory near London, while in 2005, its first Romanian employees were hired. The original idea was to use the new factory mostly as a production point for the UK team, and only keep a small sales force in Romania. Due to the efforts of this team, the Romania business kept growing, making the company become in a short while a market leader in Romania’s pallet racking market.

An office was established in Bucharest, as part of Dexion’s efforts to spread its sales network all over Europe. The company used its great location, good stocks, quick delivery as well as a range of high-quality archive solutions, supplemented by cost-effective light shelving to quickly become one of the country’s top choices in choosing office and archive storage systems.
In 2008, the two companies merged under the Constructor Group name, putting their strengths together to become the top storage systems provider in Eastern Europe, as the Dexion Hi-Lo storage Solutions we know today.

In its 5 years of existence, the company went through an array of changes, It went from Hi-Lo to Dexion Hi-Lo and soon to Dexion, it went from a being merely pallet racking producers to becoming a supplier for complete state-of-the-art storage solutions. Regardless of these changes, the company remained the market leader of this emerging, strong and challenging market.
