The end of May will once again see the gathering of logistics professionals from all over Central Europe at the Prague’s TOP HOTEL. The 13th annual logistics and transport congress, EASTLOG 2010, will take place on May 27-28, 2010, covering a full array of logistics themes and providing the background to forge new relationships and make new business deals. Seminars, workshops, case studies and panel discussions led by major names in the business, this year’s conference segment will offer something for everyone. The morning block will kick off with a discussion on economic development and international trade, followed by themes related to supply chain efficiency.
In the presentation entitled “The Supply Chain – Making your Supply Chain Perform,” Petr Knap from Ernst & Young will discuss the results of a recent Europe-wide study on the development of supply turnover and costs. After that, Ralf Meistes, Director of DIY-Logistics at DACHSER will talk about modern Western European Supply Chain trends in the DIY segment that could be the beginnings of a new stage in FMCG distribution. To conclude the morning block, Ferdinand Hlobil, Partner at Cushman & Wakefield will comment on the results of the second annual “Tenant’s Prize – Best Logistics Park,” comparing the 2010 competition with the previous year. Look forward to a captivating dialogue on the quality of building and developer services in the logistics park segment.
Retail and Efficiency in the Supply ChainEfficiency in retail and FMCG logistics is the much-discussed topic selected for the afternoon conference block, put together with logistics directors, FMCG suppliers, supply chain managers of retail chains and logistics company managers in mind. How can supply-chain logistics be improved? Should we focus on increased turnover or bigger profits? What are the future trends in retail supply chains? These and many more questions will be addressed by participating Czech and foreign logistics specialists such as Martin Kment, Partner at Logio, who will tackle the topic of demand planning and forecasting, an area that presents the greatest potential for savings in retail and FMCG. The presentation will give actual examples that show major savings of dozens of percentages that can be implemented immediately. Hame Logistics and Distribution Director, Martin Strupl, will then present a case study on investments into automatic packaging and labeling lines, to be followed by the experienced and knowledgeable, Nicholas Wyss, Global Head of IV Retail & Fashion and Senior Vice President of Panalpina Management, who will share his view of current and upcoming global trends and challenges facing retail supply chains in the coming years.
The highlight of the conference program will be a panel discussion summarizing the changes taking place in the retail sector. The discussion will shed light on some of the demands retailers will be placing on their suppliers in the future. This high-profile panel discussion will be joined by Pieter C.W.Vos, Logistic Project Manager for Tesco Stores, Tomas Moravec, Logistic Manager at MAKRO Cash & Carry ČR and Werner Eberhart, Logistics Director of Globus CR.
Parallel Workshops Offer More Food for Thought Running alongside our main conference program in Auditorium III will be a captivating side program of workshops that will be include the following: “CONFERENCE ON COMBINED CARGO TRANSPORT IN THE CR” (morning) and “EFFECTIVE WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT” (afternoon).
The “CONFERENCE ON COMBINED CARGO TRANSPORT IN THE CR” workshop will be led by the top companies in this specialized field: CSKD INTRANS, OKD Doprava, CD Cargo, BOHEMIAKOMBI and SCHENKER. The program will feature numerous thematically related presentations designed to show the synergetic effects of multimodal cargo transport, the many technologies and methods used in the field and the benefits of multimodal transport for retailers. The program will be complemented by a panel discussion on the ongoing topic of the government’s role in supporting combined cargo transport.
The afternoon “EFFECTIVE WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT” workshop will no doubt be attended by large numbers of warehouse managers, shift supervisors and heads of logistics operations. Experienced speakers will tackle the themes of on-the-job safety in warehouses, optimized warehouse operations management and the safeguarding of backup procedures for emergency situations.
