Alumni Events: When Academia Meets Practice
Specialized Information » News (15 Jun 2011)
Following each event, organizers used participant evaluation forms to get an overall impression of the event and get feedback so that future events can be improved.
The majority of participants were satisfied with the organization and agendas of the Alumni Events. Many participants mentioned that it gave them useful information and ideas. Students were also allowed to attend these events, which offered them an opportunity to meet with potential employers. This interaction was appreciated by all involved.
Now, when two rounds of events are completed, we look forward to having the third and last round of Alumni Events in the upcoming months (in fact, many third round events have already been held). We hope and believe that this round of events will be as fruitful and as interesting as the first two rounds.

An important goal of the B2B LOCO project is alumni networking and one of the main instruments used to achieve this goal is Alumni Events.
During the past twelve months, since the start of the project, each participating academic partner has been involved in two rounds of Alumni Events. Moreover, participating institutions are now in the midst of the third round of events. These Alumni Events provide an opportunity for academics and logistics professionals to meet face-to-face, share ideas, identify new trends, propose solutions to current problems, and explore business ideas.
All the events were independently organized by the local B2B LOCO partners, yet some were integrated into larger conferences. This amalgamation heightened exposure of the B2B LOCO project and allowed alumni who would not normally be able to attend Alumni Events to benefit from the B2B project.
At some of these events, participants presented problems and solutions related to transportation and logistics issues in almost every field: aviation, consumer goods, container shipping and more.
The events also provided an opportunity to present national and EU programs supporting small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). Some events also presented innovative and entrepreneurial approaches to unresolved problems.
